Microphone Installation

For speech recognition, ensure your microphone headset is installed and configured properly. To install the microphone headset, perform the following steps:

1. For an analog microphone, insert the headset microphone plug into the microphone-input jack on your computer.
2. Optionally insert the speaker plug into the sound out jack. You may already have speakers plugged into this jack. You must choose whether you want computer sounds to be amplified through your speakers or through your headset earphone.
3. For USB microphone, insert the headset cable into an available USB connector on your computer.

You need to test the microphone and speaker volumes in your environment. For x86 and x64 platforms using Microsoft SAPI, go to your control panel folder and invoke the Speech control panel application. Click on Configure Microphone. This will launch the microphone setup wizard. For x86 and x64 platforms using other vendor recognizers, launch the microphone setup wizards provided by those vendors.
