Step 1 – Download Chant Developer Workbench 2011

Develop Software that Speaks and Listens

Step 2 – (Optional) Register for an evaluation serial number

The Chant Developer Workbench and component libraries will run for 30-days on your development system where you install the software. An evaluation serial number is required if you want to test your application on a different system, mobile device, or mobile device emulator.

To generate an evaluation serial number, you need an online support account with a valid email address. The same serial number will work for all component libraries.

Step 3 – Install the software

Run the installer(s) you downloaded in Step 1. Review the license agreement. Follow the install wizard prompts to complete the installation.

Step 4 – Locate tools, components, documentation, and samples

Launch the Developer Workbench interactive environment from the Chant\Developer Workbench 2011 start menu.

All component libraries and help files are installed to the default location Program Files\Chant\product name\platform.

Documentation can be launched from the Chant\Developer Workbench 2011 start menu or by double clicking the product .chm file located in the product folder.

All sample application projects are installed to the default location My Documents\Chant product name\platform.

Step 5 – (Optional) Configure tools, components, and samples

Configure the Developer Workbench interactive environment by updating the CDW Serials property and speech SDK properties:

1. Launch Chant Developer Workbench 2011 from the Chant\Developer Workbench 2011 start menu or run cdw.exe.
2. Select the View-Options menu item.
3. Click on the License and Serials node and enter your Evaluation serial number from Step 2 in CDW Serials field.
4. Click on the Environment Settings node and set paths to speech SDK libraries.

Configure the samples by setting the CSPSerials property statement and speech SDK library properties:

1. Open the sample project.
2. Locate the form load or create routine and update the SetStringProperty statement for CSPSerials property with your Evaluation serial number from Step 2.
3. Uncomment and update paths to speech SDK libraries.
